IT"S FINISHED!

Only a year after the Historic Fountain Reconstruction Comittee had their first meeting, Stewart Iron Works reports that the fountain has received its final coat of paint and is ready for delivery. The result is magnificent, and a testament to the fine craftmanship of the fabricators. Special thanks go out to Tom Willis of Stewart who obviously put his heart and soul into this project. From all of us in Babylon Village, thanks Tom!

The photo shows the beautiful bronze statue atop the fountain, which has been painted with a bronze-like finish, much like the original. Delivery is set for Monday, November 8, 2010 at 9:00am. A crane will be in front of the Historical Society building to lift the fountain from the truck bed and onto its base and new home. Bring your cameras, as the fountain will be covered shortly thereafter in order to protect it while the site work is completed over the winter.

A Memorial Day, 2011 dedication is planned, when the fountain will be formally unveiled and will become a part of village history once again. Please keep the donations coming in, as we are far short of our goal to complete the site work.

ALMOST COMPLETE!

These new photos from Stewart Ironworks show the progress of the fountain assembly. It has been primed and is awaiting the final bronze-like finish coats. Our excitement grows with every photo and email from Covington. The additional photo reveals the paint color match to the all-bronze statue of the lady who will watch our comings and goings around the Village into the next century. We should be accepting delivery by November 15, 2010. SEND IN YOUR DONATIONS and watch for preliminary site work at the Historical Society to begin shortly. Watch your step!
